On the evening of June 5 2024, a extensive and critical water main break along 16th Avenue NW was discovered in a key main pipe that carries major water supplies across Calgary, Airdrie, Strathmore and Chestermere.^[1] A critical transmission line was installed to enable the city to help transport water across the city during the break.^[2]
