The Chevrolet Blazer EV is a battery electric mid-size crossover SUV manufactured by General Motors under the Chevrolet brand. Introduced in 2022, the model went on sale in mid-2023 in North America. The model will offer up 320 miles (510 km) of range. [2] It is produced at GM's plant in Ramos Arizpe, Mexico. [3] [4] The Blazer EV also won the MotorTrend SUV of the Year Award (SUVOTY) for 2024. [5]

Overview

General Motors initially announced that the Blazer EV would be available in 1LT, 2LT, RS, and SS trim levels. The 2LT and RS will debut in 2023, while the 1LT and SS will debut in 2024. However, the base 1LT trim was cancelled when the RS trim was launched. [6] It comes standard with the Chevy Safety Assist safety technologies, and an optional Super Cruise semi-autonomous system. The Blazer SS becomes the first electric Chevrolet to bear the SS badge, and the variant is rated at 557 hp (565 PS; 415 kW) and 648 lb⋅ft (879 N⋅m; 89.6 kg⋅m) of torque. [7] [8]

The Blazer EV's fast-charging capability allows for approximately 78 mi (126 km) of charge in just 10 minutes. [9] A "Wide Open Watts" (WOW) mode allows the Blazer SS to reach 60 mph (97 km/h) in less than four seconds. A police pursuit vehicle model will be available in the first quarter of 2024. [10]

Production halt

In December 2023, Chevrolet paused the Blazer EV's production due to many software issues, charging problems, and battery trouble. [11]
