This category was nominated for conversion to a list on 29 March 2012. The result of the discussion was keep.

On 4 April 2014, I restored the category Category:Music pupils by teacher and removed the categories Category:Pupils of Giovanni Gabrieli and Category:German musicians; this edit was then reverted by User:Hyacinth. My reasons: 1) that this category must be in Category:Music pupils by teacher is obvious; 2) while Schütz belongs into Category:Pupils of Giovanni Gabrieli (but currently isn't), this is clearly not true for Schütz's pupils ( Giovanni Gabrieli died 1612, Johann Paul von Westhoff, pupil of Schütz, was born 1656); 3) Carlo Farina and several others of Schütz's pupils are not German.

User:Hyacinth has again added the category:Pupils of Giovanni Gabrieli; this is wrong. The members of this category, from Heinrich Albert to J. P. v. Westhoff, were pupils of Schütz, but not of G. Gabrieli. That Schütz was G. Gabrieli's pupil has nothing to do with this category. The only suitable category here is Category:Music pupils by teacher (and Category:Heinrich Schütz if it still existed). -- Michael Bednarek ( talk) 04:14, 10 April 2014 (UTC) reply
