This is a maintenance category, used for maintenance of the Wikipedia project. It is not part of the encyclopedia and contains non-article pages, or groups articles by status rather than subject. Do not include this category in content categories. This is a hidden category. It is not shown on its member pages, unless the corresponding user preference (Appearance → Show hidden categories) is set.

This list is populated by writing entering a value in the [linglist] field but not in the [iso3] field of Template:Infobox language. As ISO codes are assigned to these languages, the articles should be updated to remove them from this category. In the case of dialects of languages with assigned ISO codes, however, the ISO code is not used in the info box for the dialect, because it is not specific to the dialect.

Linguist List / MultiTree is an inferior source, and ideally all instances should be replaced with a better ref (Glottolog, AIATSIS, Guthrie, etc.). The exception is codes in the ISO private-use range qaa–qtz (letters only), as Ethnologue is passing off support of extinct languages to Linguist List.
