• Note: The school had gone by "Long Island" until 2013–14, at which time its athletic name became "LIU Brooklyn". Since the football program was discontinued in 1940, decades before the name change (and also well before LIU's Post campus existed), that program's categories should remain "Long Island" for purposes of historic accuracy. The football team that began play in 2019 as the LIU Sharks is not historically related to the former Long Island (Brooklyn) football program; it is the successor to the LIU Post Pioneers, which represented LIU's Post campus in Nassau County, New York before the Brooklyn and Post athletic programs merged.
