Backgammon is a tables game for two players. In the modern Western game, 15 pieces are moved in opposite directions according to the roll of dice and the winner is the first to remove all his pieces from the board, scoring bonuses for gammon and backgammon which may be further increased with the aid of a doubling cube. Numerous quite similar games are played elsewhere in the world whose rules and culture may vary in different respects. See Category:Tables games
