The Landsborough Highway runs past the western extremity, near Augathella. [3]
The locality was named and bounded on 28 March 2002. [2] It is presumably named after the ford across the Warrego River known as Caroline Crossing ( 25°37′00″S 146°45′00″E / 25.6166°S 146.75°E). [4] [5]
