William Cope, known as Bill Cope, is an Australian academic, author and educational theorist who was a research professor in the Department of Educational Policy Studies at the
University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign,[1] He has also been the Managing Director of Common Ground Publishing at the university.[2]
Early life and education
Cope completed his Bachelor of Arts with first class honours in History in 1979 at
Macquarie University. He received a Commonwealth Postgraduate Research Scholarship from 1980 to 1982. He completed his Ph.D., at Macquarie University in 1987.[3] Cope was a visiting fellow in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and Graduate School of Education at
Harvard University from January to June 1991.[citation needed]
In 1998, Cope was one of the founders of the
Unity Party.[4]
His research interests include theories and practices of pedagogy, cultural and linguistic diversity, and new technologies of representation and communication.[3]
