freshwater snails with an
operculum ,
aquatic
gastropod
molluscs or
micromolluscs in the
Hydrobiidae
family . Austropyrgus
species are
endemic to
Australia , where they are found in virtually all freshwater
habitats , from high mountain streams to isolated
springs in the arid zone.
