Initially rising from the remnants of Northern California hardcore bands Some Still Believe and Breaker Breaker, Allegiance was a San Francisco Bay Area-based straight edge hardcore punk band that existed from April 2002 to February 2008. The majority of their catalog was released by the popular Bay Area hardcore punk record label Rivalry Records. Although they were not the first band to use the name "Allegiance", they were the first notable American band to do so. Throughout their existence, the band were regulars at local DIY-Punk venue 924 Gilman in Berkeley, California, where they played both their first and final shows. Allegiance extensively toured the West Coast and throughout the rest of the United States and Europe. During this time, they performed at various music festivals such as Positive Numbers, Sound & Fury, Rivalry Records Showcase, Death Or Glory, Sink With Cali, Pressure Festival, and Hellfest.

2003 Allegiance (EP) CD, 7-inch Anchor Records (Canada) & Rivalry Records CD version had additional tracks not included on the vinyl, such as cover songs by Minor Threat ("Bottled Violence") and Some Still Believe ("Wasted"). The CD version also includes the 2002 demo. Both the CD and vinyl quickly went out of print, which lead to Rivalry Records re-releasing the CD in 2005.
2004 Internal Affairs Split 7-inch Malfunction Records & Rivalry Records (split release) Split 7-inch with Internal Affairs from Los Angeles. This was a combined release between Rivalry Rivalry and Malfunction Records.
2004 Coastal Flooding Vol. 1 - The West Coast 7-inch Endwell Records Hardcore compilation featuring: Allegiance, Champion, Find Him & Kill Him, Blue Monday, The Miracle Mile, and Where Eagles Dare.
2004 Pity The Backseat (A Northern California Hardcore Compilation) CD Spiderghost Pressgang Released by Sammy The Mick from All Bets Off, this Northern California hardcore compilation features Allegiance, Set Your Goals, Animosity, Powerhouse, Life Long Tragedy, Killing The Dream, Embrace The End, Hoods, Lights Out, Jealous Again, At Risk, Consign, The Damage Done, These Days, Hammertime, Duckhunt, Cross The Line, Charm School, Benumb, Endure, Suffokate, Stars Are Falling, Gather, The Mourning Dawn, Days To Streaks, Actions Aside, and Stars & Bars. Liner notes of CD written by Davey Havok of AFI.
2005 Overlooked LP, CD Rivalry Records The band's debut LP, and featured 12 songs, including new recordings of a compilation song ("Don't Tell Me") and two songs from the split 7-inch with Internal Affairs ("Never Said A Word" & "On The Line"). The song "No Dice" was re-recorded and included as a hidden track after the last track on the release.
