Airwalk is a company well known for making skateboarding shoes. [1]
History
Founded in 1986 by the founder of Blair Co, George Yohn, and shoe purchaser Bill Mann, the brand gained widespread national popularity in for their most popular shoe – “The One” – in the mid 1990s. [2] [3] In his 2000 book The Tipping Point, Malcolm Gladwell cited Airwalk as the sixth most influential brand in the world during its heyday in the mid 1990s. [4] Airwalk was purchased by Collective Licensing International in 2004. [5] As of December 2023, Airwalk was owned and operated by Authentic Brands Group.
