The 1983 Virginia Slims Hall of Fame Classic , also known as the Virginia Slims of Newport , was a women's
tennis tournament played on
outdoor grass courts in
Newport, Rhode Island in the United States that was part of the
1983 Virginia Slims World Championship Series . The tournament was held from July 11 through July 17, 1983. Third-seeded
Alycia Moulton won the singles title.

It was Moulton's 3rd title of the year and the 4th of her career.
