The 1781 Delaware gubernatorial election was held on 6 November 1781 in order to elect the
President of Delaware. (The office would be renamed to Governor in 1792.) Candidate and former member of the
Continental Congress
John Dickinson was unanimously elected by the
Delaware General Assembly as he ran unopposed.

On election day, 6 November 1781,
John Dickinson was unanimously elected by the
Delaware General Assembly, receiving all but his own vote (which was rejected). Dickinson was sworn in as the 5th
President of Delaware on 13 November 1781.
