New Revision (March 3, 2006)

Alan, it looks much better now. Great cleanup.

Should we potentially add the main NJ articles to it (sort of like Template:New York)? // MrD9 23:30, 3 March 2006 (UTC) reply

Thanks for noticing. Absolutely, we should add some of the main articles to the template. Alansohn 04:10, 5 March 2006 (UTC) reply

U.S. state templates

Wikipedia:WikiProject U.S. states/state templates lists and displays all 50 U.S. state (and additional other) templates. It potentially can be used for ideas and standardization. // MrD9 07:08, 19 March 2006 (UTC) reply

Standardization of state templates

There is currently an ongoing discussion regarding standardization of state templates (primarily regarding layout and styling) at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject U.S. states/state templates. An effort was made earlier this year to standardize Canadian province templates (which mostly succeeded). Lovelac7 and I have already begun standardizing all state templates. If you have any concerns, they should be directed toward the discussion page for state template standardization. Thanks! — Webdinger BLAH | SZ 22:55, 27 August 2006 (UTC) reply

Regions

I just added additional regions of New Jersey that are listed at Regions of the United States#New Jersey. There are also 2 regions without articles (Greater Atlantic City Region and Southern Shore Region). There are now more regions in the state than counties. The problem has to do with the many different types of regions:

Should all of these regions be listed? If not, what criteria should be used to determine the "important ones"? Should the regions be divided up in the template (roughly as in the above)? Any other ideas or suggestions? -- Scott Alter 17:05, 27 June 2007 (UTC) reply

    • Why not include all of them. There's more than one way to slice up the state. Do any of them truly overlap? I don't think so. Alansohn 17:23, 27 June 2007 (UTC) reply
This issue of what regions there are should correspond with what is stated on the main New Jersey page under the Geography section. -- Spettro9 ( talk) 00:31, 2 September 2011 (UTC) reply

Color

Is there a particular reason why this template is this particular shade of yellow? I understand trying to match the flag, but it doesn't exactly match. Wouldn't it be better to just go with the default used by {{ navbox}} to avoid having a rainbow at the bottom of the page when this navbox is next to another one and per WP:ACCESSIBILITY? Please let me know if there is a strong reason to have it a particular color. I noticed this was attempted recently, but was reverted, so I thought I would be proactive and start a thread here to avoid an edit war. Thanks! Okay, it seems no one cares? I will go ahead and change it. Thanks! Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 06:38, 1 January 2011 (UTC) reply

I see your point, to some extent. I was looking back in the template's history, and the color chosen did not suit the template as it did not look much like the flag even did. I looked up the hexadecimal for buff and found out that buff was the hexadecimal being used, I was somewhat suprised. However, I found a color that is not buff and perhaps looks similar to the color of the New Jersey flag that is on WikiCommons: #FFCC33. 96.239.238.100 ( talk) 02:55, 25 March 2011 (UTC) reply
