The LTD was phased out in the seventies, and in the eighties, it was known as Crown Victoria, though it carried the nameplate "LTD Crown Victoria", basically, if you want it to, it should maybe go to Ford LTD Crown Victoria but no way to Ford LTD. So I stretched out the Ford Crown Victoria to take up the full slot. Karrmann 00:16, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
- This is confusing to most people. The fullsize Ford LTD was produced from 1967 to 1991. In 1983, the base and Brougham became midsize, leaving the LTD Crown Victoria as the only fullsize LTD. LTD production ended in 1991 and the replacement was called just "Crown Victoria," although the car didn't have the necessary roof option to be called that. -- Sable232 20:40, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
In most places, it seems like this template is not used, instead replaced by a list-like template... I don't know if there's any reason, but I personally prefer these types of templates. So why is this one not used more? Bduddy 04:14, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
- For a template to appear in an article, you have to... add it ;) This one dates from July 2006 but nobody cared too much on chacking the relevant articles includede this timeline. I agree, with these you can compare cars from a segment along the decades and viceversa. I'll add it to some others now. -- NaBUru38 05:43, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

- It's a little early to add 2010 to timelines in general (the new model year usually picks up around September), but, they have released two already, and announced at least one other, so, I guess I could update it, sure. -- Vossanova o< 17:48, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
- Allright, I added Fusion, Taurus, and Mustang. I added Fusion as a new generation but the Mustang as the previous one, to coincide with the generations listed in each one's article. I did not add Focus yet because, while there will most likely be a '10 model, Ford hasn't officially announced it yet. Also, I'm debating whether the Transit Connect should go under the car timeline or the truck timeline (or neither, if we're not adding fleet-only vehicles). --

- I think the Transit Connect should be considered a truck. I don't think it's fleet only, is it? Certainly Ford doesn't usually put fleet-only vehicles (e.g., Crown Victoria now) on their main Web site, and they have the Transit Connect there as a future vehicle. -- Nlu ( talk) 04:29, 9 April 2009 (UTC)
Crown Victoria
I'm seeing a tricky situation here... on the one hand, there is no actual evidence that the 2010 Crown Victoria will exist (aside from the fact that it's scheduled to go away after 2011). On the other hand, there has been no indication that there won't be one. However, the template as it sits implies that the Crown Vic was dropped, which is why someone comes along, sees that, and extends the timeline.
Maybe we need to rethink how we update these timelines to reduce issues like this? -- Sable232 ( talk) 19:03, 28 September 2009 (UTC)
- I argued about this with someone else a long time ago. I brought up the same point - that a blank space in the latest year can be interpreted as definite end-of-life. We can't add "probably" spaces to the timelines; they do need reliable sources to exist. My suggestion a ways back was to put white spaces (or end the table row prematurely) where we don't know about a car's existence/non-existence yet. That was shot down/reverted a few times though, and I eventually went with the usual grey spaces. I think the only two alternatives are either to wait until *every* model is confirmed before adding a year (which I don't think is necessary) or give unknown cells a different shade. -- Vossanova o< 20:18, 28 September 2009 (UTC)

- Not yet. The new Fiesta goes on sale (in the US) in late summer. Even then, it may be best to wait until a few more '11 models (e.g. Edge, F-series heavy duty) go on sale. -- Vossanova o< 18:07, 1 June 2010 (UTC)

- I think it just updates daily - today it says Prices for June 15, 2010. Didn't see it listed at any nearby dealers. FWIW, it does look like the 2011 Taurus and Flex are already on sale, though. I was planning on waiting a bit longer until more models start showing up at http://media.ford.com/product-information.cfm , but since the Mustang, Taurus, and Fiesta are confirmed, that only leaves a couple.. -- Vossanova o< 15:02, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

- Also note that while the next gen Focus has been revealed, it is tentatively a 2012 model, so either the 2011 will look like the current generation or they'll just skip the model year altogether. -- Vossanova o< 20:37, 15 June 2010 (UTC)
