Notes

This template should include things like whitewater rafting, BASE jumping, hot air ballooning, and caving, to name a few. Maybe even abandoned mine exploration, stock car racing, and Zorbing. If snowboarding is included, so should downhill skiing and telemark skiing. If surfing is included, so should scuba diving. I don't consider skateboarding an extreme sport at all but media promotion has made it one so I won't argue for it's removal at this point, but in any case this template is horribly incomplete. 173.59.192.55 ( talk) 07:12, 20 July 2009 (UTC) reply

You can help improve it by adding all those sports you mentioned. Supaman89 ( talk) 20:06, 20 July 2009 (UTC) reply

Roller skiing

Roller skiing is on the list, but why? If roller skiing then any sport is extrem. --— Erik Jr. 18:37, 13 November 2017 (UTC) reply

I removed roller skiing as claim that this is extreme sport looks like OR. We need a credible source defining roller skiing as extreme sport. --— Erik Jr. 19:04, 13 November 2017 (UTC) reply

This template has been added to many sports apparently without any source, so I removed freestyle skiing and a couple of others. Please do not add based on assumptions. --— Erik Jr. 21:42, 13 November 2017 (UTC) reply

" Extreme sports are recreational activities perceived as involving a high degree of risk." Freestyle skiing is like snowboarding, but with skis. You can look at it in Olympic Games.
"Freestyle skiing is an artistic competition performing aerial acrobatics while freely gliding down a slope, and because of its diversified nature, an analogy is often drawn with a circus on the snow. Unlike Alpine Skiing where athletes compete for speed, Freestyle Skiing characteristically allows athletes to compete in aerial skills such as back flips and twists. The Olympic Winter Games include 10 freestyle skiing events: Moguls, Aerials, Ski Halfpipe, Ski Cross, and Ski Slopestyle." [1] read more. Aerial acrobatics is very risky. -- Pelmeen10 ( talk) 20:22, 12 February 2018 (UTC) reply
This is what I been by wp:OR, we need a reliable source, not opinions of contributors. --— Erik Jr. 20:37, 12 February 2018 (UTC) reply
Extreme sports "The sports most commonly placed in this group are skateboarding, snowboarding, freestyle skiing, in-line roller-skating, street lugeing, and BMX and mountain biking." -- Pelmeen10 ( talk) 21:00, 12 February 2018 (UTC) reply
Freestyle skiing is also part of X Games. -- Pelmeen10 ( talk) 21:04, 12 February 2018 (UTC) reply
That helps. But source should be in article. — Erik Jr. 21:07, 12 February 2018 (UTC) reply

Longboarding?

Longboarding is mentioned as an extreme sport, no source given and extreme sport is not mentioned in the article on longboarding. Seems like this list/template is largely based on POV or OR. See also Talk:Extreme sport Time to delete the list and start from scratch? --— Erik Jr. 12:17, 21 October 2018 (UTC) reply

Btw it's "Extreme and adventure sports".-- Pelmeen10 ( talk) 12:26, 21 October 2018 (UTC) reply
OK, but still nothing supporting the notion that Longboarding belongs to this category. --— Erik Jr. 12:40, 21 October 2018 (UTC) reply

Mostly original research?

There is nothing in Gliding article supporting the notion that this is an extreme or adventure sport. Some of the same issues as Extreme sport. --— Erik Jr. 09:35, 30 August 2020 (UTC) reply
