Seems you are active on the Template:Castes and Tribes of the Punjab. If you are the one that made these changes from the original why...?

Among the Punjabis Kshatriya are known as Khatris why have you changed this ?

Then in the listing among the khatri I see Khatri : Khanna | Kapoor | Kukhran | Mehra | Seth | Sareen | List of Khatri surnames .

This is wrong Khanna ,Kapoor , Mehra, Seth are individual caste names of dhai gharas why are they listed seperately ?

Next Kukhran are mentioned which are a clan ??? as opposed to the above names

and then there is the List of Khatri Surnames which is neither a name nor a group

there seems to be no systematic logic here ...??

I do not understand this simple thing. How khatris are not Kshatriyas? Ksh in Hindi is Kh in punjabi, it's not rocket science guys ans also tell me one thing it is written in hindu religion that no Kshtariya is to till the land then how Jatts are Kshatriyas? All along the history, there have been khatri warriors along with Jatts and Rajputs, in the past there were ten gurus who showed the way of resisting the mugals that eventually led to rise of sikh emmpire. Ranjit Singhs greatest general Hari Singh Nalua was a Khatri and there were countless others whom we know litle of. Even in independent India, 6 out of 24 chiefs of Indian Army have been Khatris. Khatris have won 4 out of 20 Param Vir Chakra the highest gallatary award for bravery, the latest one being captain Vikram Batra and all of them were officers in the army. Khatris are highly represented in civil, judicial and police services with current prime minister, current Army chief and current chief justice of India (Sabharwal) all from khatri clans and khatri literally run the entire education network of punjab and all this when khatris are a monority even in their home state of punjab. When there is no war then what are Kshatriyas suppose to do? they ventured into business and being strong and intelligent they are highly successful businessmen today. They are the founders of many of the big companies like Ranbaxy, Oberoi etc. and they control almost 50% of business of Delhi. I am not even mentioning the khatris of Pakistan who literally control the pakistani politics and army. Pakistan was the home of khatris, Khatris originated from Pakistan and were most prosperous in that region and they suffered the most due to partition and still they are highly successful in anything they do. Can you give one example on Baniya being a soldier? so be reasonable and accept what is genuine.

I agree with Intothefire. I have some observations to make about the structure of the Template. These are:

(I) If only broad sub-divisions are to be included, then:

(a)Amongst Khatris, the following should be included:

• Dhaighar
• Charghar
• Aathghar
• Barahghar
• Bawanghar
• The four clans associated with the Sikh Gurus (Bedi, Trehan, Bhalla and Sodhi)
• Kukhran
• Sareen

Separate articles, each bearing well-documented should be created for each of these sub-divisions and included in the Template

(b)For Aroras, I agree with NobleEagle. The following sub-divisions are good enough:

• Uttaradhi
• Dakhna
• Gujarati

For these two as well as other groups, adding a complete list of last names is also very important.

(II) We should also pay special attention to the Jat category. Since most Punjabis, Indian and Pakistani, are of Jat ancestry, we should focus on including only those clans which are Punjabi-speaking and are exclusive to the Punjab region. For example, the Sidhu-Brars, the Sandhus, the Cheemas, the Bhullars, the Dhillons, The Garewals/Grewals and the like. Trouble though is, are their any special divisions among which we can group these Punjabi Jat clans? Like the divisions among the Khatris and Aroras, what are the divisions among Jats. We know there are a lot of clans. But are they grouped as in Aroras and Khatris?

(III) The same problem exists in the Rajput category. We have exclusively Punjabi Rajput clans like the Mairs, the Minhas, the Manjs, the Maitlas, the Janjuas, the Ranials, the Dhamials, the Dogras, the Jamwals, the Salarias, the Chibs, the Chadhars, the Kharrals and the like. But like Jats, we cannot group them into specific groups.

(IV) I think the Brahmin, Dalit and Shaikh categories are very much ok.

(V)A lot of work must be done on the Tarkhan category. The Tarkhan tribes are divided into fiften major sub-division as the Tarkhan' article states. We should develop articles on each subdivision and put them on the template.

Lets be inclusive , Punjabi clan cut across religious lines and can be Hindu , Muslim , Sikh , Christian , and then the sub divisions . Can be Indian ,Pakistani and Afghan .

The template at the bottom of Punjabi Muslim tribes from Hindu Lineage contains a link to Kaura which is apparently a rock band. I tried to remove the link but when I view the template at Template:Castes and Tribes of the Punjab it is much smaller and doesn't contain the Kaura link, so I'm hoping someone familiar with the template can fix it.
