Hussars of Junín

Created by 180app ( talk) and 2x2leax ( talk). Nominated by 2x2leax ( talk) at 04:25, 10 August 2022 (UTC).

  • Article length and age are fine, no copyvio or plagiarism concerns. There are two paragraphs (Origin Paragraph III and 20th century Paragraph I) that lack citations, which will need to be corrected. The infobox could be shortened, but that's just personal taste and won't affect the nomination. Lastly, while "gave them the nickname of" works, perhaps "led them to be nicknamed the" might flow better. Other than that, so long as one of the two nominators has previously nominated less than five articles, this should be good to go once citation issues are addressed. • Additional notes: "Peruvian" could be specified, and "cavalry unit" could be linked. Making:
ALT1: ... that the decisive participation of a Peruvian cavalry unit in the Battle of Junín led them to be nicknamed the Hussars of Junín? Krisgabwoosh ( talk) 16:45, 12 August 2022 (UTC)
I have corrected the lack of sources you have mentioned. And I support the alt hook. 2x2leax ( talk) 21:42, 12 August 2022 (UTC)
Perfect! I see not reason why this shouldn't go straight through. Krisgabwoosh ( talk) 04:17, 14 August 2022 (UTC)
Thank you! 2x2leax ( talk) 23:19, 16 August 2022 (UTC)
@ 2x2leax and Krisgabwoosh: The article says that the unit was renamed to Hussars of Junín, not that it was a nickname. Also, I'm not sure what "decisive participation" means, so I am suggesting some ALT hooks below:

Thoughts? Z1720 ( talk) 01:11, 17 August 2022 (UTC)

These are valid as well. However, looking at the official name, it still appears as though "Hussars of Junín" is the nickname, with the official unit name being "Cavalry Regiment № 1 Liberator of Peru". Perhaps the article creator could clarify? If it does turn out to be part of the official name and not a nickname, I would prefer a change that remains close to the original. I also believe "decisive participation" is probably clear enough, with "decisive" being a common word used to describe a unit, tactic, maneuver, etc. that turned the tide of a battle. Perhaps: Krisgabwoosh ( talk) 01:20, 17 August 2022 (UTC)
My thought is that it needs to clarify what happened in the Battle of Junín to explain why the unit is known as Hussars of Junín. Yes, theoretically the unit was renamed as Hussars of Junín after the battle, but currently its official name is the one mentioned in the first paragraph of the article (Cavalry Regiment № 1 Liberator of Peru). I will comment when I finish to edit those clarifications. 2x2leax ( talk) 21:15, 17 August 2022 (UTC)
Done. Also I propose this ALT hook, based on what you said. 2x2leax ( talk) 23:42, 17 August 2022 (UTC)
  • That works for me. I think "decisive participation" works as we want to keep these brief. I'll await @ Z1720:'s thoughts before a solid approval, though. Krisgabwoosh ( talk) 06:41, 18 August 2022 (UTC)
  • I have no concerns with ALT3b. @ Krisgabwoosh: if you approve it, can you readd a tick below? Thanks. Z1720 ( talk) 17:43, 18 August 2022 (UTC)
