The "ahi" disambiguation page directs to "tuna," though Ahi is actually specifically yellowfin tuna. Plus, neither the "tuna" article nor this article mention "ahi" anywhere. Funkeboy 18:37, 4 December 2006 (UTC) reply

Removed folk etymology for ahi, which comes from Hawaiian ʻahi "Hawaiian tuna fishes, especially the yellow-fin tuna (Thunnus albacares)," which in turn derives from earlier *kasi (*k > /ʻ/, *s > /h/). I think maguro is usually bluefin tuna in Japan. It says so here as well: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_sushi_and_sashimi_ingredients So I'll just take that last comment off..

I don't think Ahi should point to this page. http://www.hawaii-seafood.org/bigeye.html shows that Bigeye tuna is also called Ahi. Merriam-Webster online also http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/ahi shows Bigeye and Yellowfin as Ahi. In Hawaii, any red meat tuna may be Ahi. Maguro is red tuna in Japanese and Yellowfin may be listed as maguro.

I guess the disambiguation page should just point to Big-Eye and perhaps Albacore as well, although I would think it better to point to the main Tuna page. This link has a good list of Tuna names which suggests albacore. http://www.gotmercury.org/pdf/ChicagoSushi.pdf
