The lyrics

Not long after Wayne Fontana's version of the song I read an interview with Curtis Mayfield in which he said that the original lyrics were so weird that he'd had to change them before the record company would record the song. I've not seen anything about this since. Does anyone know what these weird lyrics were or did the secret die with him? -- Deke42 ( talk) 03:40, 1 March 2018 (UTC) reply
