It's "River City" not "City Of Trees". Ask around.

That's a really laughable error. What's the source? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:204:D506:DBF9:1FB:E99:256B:758C ( talk) 20:47, 19 July 2016 (UTC) reply

Sacramento, California Sacramento – Sacramento, California is already far and away the primary topic of Sacramento, as a search for Sacramento redirects to Sacramento, California. I see no reason why the title can’t be simplified to Sacramento. Mrbeastmodeallday ( talk) 23:51, 23 March 2019 (UTC) reply

  • Oppose per WP:USPLACE. Nohomersryan ( talk) 01:22, 24 March 2019 (UTC) reply
  • This has come up before. I am somewhat ambivalent, but lean towards keeping it as is because it's what the AP Stylebook uses (as WP:USPLACE uses). Killiondude ( talk) 01:52, 24 March 2019 (UTC) reply
  • Oppose per the standard of WP:USPLACE. Sacramento does not qualify under the AP Stylebook rule, so it should have the state in the title like most other US cities. I assume that the OP and others who may be browsing their way through may not be familiar with the guideline (or the long, tedious, historic debates about it). So I would recommend, as a start, both the FAQ box at the top at Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (geographic names), and also Wikipedia:Perennial proposals#Remove state from US placenames (which summarizes the rationale for WP:USPLACE into five bullet points). • Oppose. If it were up to me, I would just have the article at Sacramento. But I agree with the rationale behind WP:USPLACE: in general, most U.S. places should be in the City, State format, even somewhat large ones like Thousand Oaks, California, but the biggest ones should not, such as Los Angeles. If we're going to have two different conventions then the cutoff has to be drawn somewhere, and instead of wasting thousands of hours of Wikipedians' time we have decided to just follow a well-known standard and be done with it. -- King of ♠ 08:05, 24 March 2019 (UTC) reply
  • Comment Like above I would support this move but indeed it doesn't look like this would be an exception (like Colorado Springs) however as pointed out Talk:Anchorage, Alaska#Requested move 14 September 2018 we might have to keep in mind User:Born2cycle/FAQ#Change guideline first. There was a discussion at Talk:Sacramento (disambiguation)#Move? (11 January 2015) where there was clear consensus the city in California is primary for "Sacramento". So unlike Austin it doesn't look like there is much chance of needing to put the DAB at the base name. Crouch, Swale ( talk) 09:53, 24 March 2019 (UTC) reply
It's always important to distinguish between prescriptive and descriptive guidelines; sometimes it's not clear and you have to go back to through the entire page history to find whoever originally added the bit. Anything established through consensus is for the most part prescriptive, and should not be overridden via local consensus, especially when it comes to naming conventions which are meant to establish uniformity across all articles. -- King of ♠ 10:01, 24 March 2019 (UTC) reply
I'd note that its argued by some that USPLACE goes against the general consensus of WP:PRECISION on the other hand some argue that adding the state is common usage and therefore acceptable according to WP:COMMONNAME. Crouch, Swale ( talk) 10:07, 24 March 2019 (UTC) reply

Request for Auto-Confirmed protection on Sacramento page.

Hi. I am requesting this page to be protected as this page does have some significant chance of being vandalized due to the vandalism on certain cities. Thanks. Gxolol ( talk) 08:57, 31 December 2020 (UTC) reply

Request to Cleanup overall article and add section detailing Sacramento's revitalization

Hello!

A few things that I would love to see changed for the article to make the page more appealing to readers.

1. Update the photo of the skyline and montage: the pictures used are from 2009 and do not reflect the current skyline of Sacramento in 2021. Also, I would love to see photos include some attractions the city has. Examples of this could be the California State Fair, the Sacramento Zoo and Fairytale Town in Land Park, the murals painted by artists around the city for Wide Open Walls, the updated Safe Credit Union Convention Center in downtown Sacramento, and the iconic Tower Theater that was featured in Lady Bird.

2. Sacramento has gone through a major revitalization movement since the construction of the Golden 1 Center, one estimate from the Greater Sacramento Economic Council says more that 6 billion dollars have been invested into the city at that time. This includes dozens of mid rise apartment projects, the construction of major developments such as The Railyards, The Bridge District in West Sacramento, Aggie Square in Oak Park, University Village in Sac State, and The River District which includes Township Nine and Mirasol Village. In addition, I see no mention of events such as Wide Open Walls and the Tower Bridge Dinner on the page as well as highlighting restaurants and cafes that are transforming Sacramento's blossoming food scene. It would be awesome to see a section dedicated to all the new construction and events going on in Sacramento and updates to current sections to highlight the progress the city has made over the past decade.

Thank you for taking the time to read these requests, I hope that editors (including myself) can give a much needed update to the Sacramento Wikipedia page and can highlight the transformation that Sacramento is undergoing.

Wet season

It seems like the wet season mainly starts in November. In October it has less than 30mm per month, it’s not really a wet month. דולב חולב ( talk) 01:25, 1 March 2024 (UTC) reply
