I once read (I think on Wikipedia) that Roy Clark gave HUGE amounts of his income to children's hospitals. I have no citations, but if it IS true, it would be nice to see him recognized. I am pretty sure it was once in this article (maybe three years ago). If anyone knows or has a citation, can you contribute? I am very curious about this VERY talented man. I met Roy Clark and shook his hand in Tulsa at Children's Medical Center in 1976. I was 14 years old and an inpatient. Roy Clark did indeed donate massive amounts to CMC. What an awesome person he was. God Bless him !

I think any of Roy Clark's fans will agree that he's talented. The article says he can play "several" instruments. Does anyone know just how many and which ones? Hi Hydrargyrum Regarding your claim that Template:Infobox musical artist instrument requires a discussion to reach consensus first, I have looked it over and can find no such wording there. However, I do understand its wording that only instruments the musician is known for using primarily be listed. To act in good faith, I will list it here, and you can tell me your position. One of my fondest memories of Hee Haw is Roy and Buck and their dueling banjos. Clark is widely known for playing the banjo just as much as the guitar. Here's some articles. [3] But if you search, you will see more articles that demonstrate this was a primary instrument for him. For example, he played the banjo on Hee Haw for 24 years. Update from last week's change to his article:

Adding banjo. It is a primary instrument per [6] and [7]. Just for starters, Clark played the banjo for 24 years on Hee Haw. A favorite memory is dueling banjos with Buck Owens. p.s. That policy does not say a discussion for consensus is required. I reworded it a bit.

This article gives undue weight to Clark's radio and TV career. While needed, his musical career is far more important. Can't anyone improve that section? A casual reader would conclude that Clark is known for his 1950s radio and TV appearances, rather than his music or Hee Haw. - Tim1965 ( talk) 17:59, 28 November 2018 (UTC) reply

Tim1965 I might point out that using Hee Haw as example of his musical career is a mixed one. It does demonstrate his prowess on the banjo as he played it for 24 years on Hee Haw. However, Hee Haw was a TV show. So it's really an example of both items you are contrasting. I find that IMDB is pretty full of television credits. I threw in Hee Haw as an example of a major part of Clark's career that isn't really covered in the article, either. Why was he sought out as co-host? Why did he choose to do it? What was his attitude toward the show, and did it change over time? Was he ever nominated for any awards for appearing on the show? How did the show affect his fame? There may even be links between his music career and the program: Did it interrupt his touring or musical output? Did critics find his music suffered or improved or had no change while he was on the show? Did he give any particularly outstanding performances on the series? All that said, I still find next to nothing about his musical career, output, critical assessment, etc., in the article, and what's there remains largely uncited. - Tim1965 ( talk) 13:45, 29 November 2018 (UTC) reply
