Please seek consensus before re-writing article

While I appreciate the intentions of one editor who is re-writing the article on the grounds that he is "improving" the writing. I am afraid that many of the changes being made are purely stylistic and they are not always correct or improvements. For example, the editor has changed all of the date formats, though the previous format is common and perfectly acceptable under MOS rules, and is the format that was used when the article was first created. It's appreciated if an editor correct mistakes; but editors shouldn't rewrite articles simply because they don't like the style. If you wish to make many more changes of this kind, please discuss them first here on the talk page, and see if there's a consensus for those changes. Football discrepancy

In the Sports section, the year of the first French football championship is given as 1914. In the Chronology section, it is listed under 1894. Which is correct? -- ShelfSkewed Talk 06:41, 22 January 2019 (UTC) reply

Good call. 1894 is correct- thanks for catching it. SiefkinDR ( talk) 19:19, 22 January 2019 (UTC) reply
