This is one of at least two roads named the Old Spanish Trail.
[1] and
[2] have information about a
national auto trail with that name from San Diego to St. Augustine. Disambiguation is probably in order. --

Actually if I'm reading those references correctly,
[3] appears to be the eastern most portion of
[4].

Where are the references? This page is worthless without references! What, was it written by some "know-it-all" in his underpants living in Mom's basement?
Revert
Why did Vegaswikian undo my additions to the page. I added history that is important to the trail, especially those of Antonio Armijo. Please do not revert to the previous version without citing your reasons. —Preceding

Why is this copy violation? The text is from the website noted in the older version and it does not appear to be copywrited material. The source of the text was cited and attributed to the original author and would therefore not be plagarism. —Preceding

I have emailed the Trail Association for their permission, if not obtained I will write original content. This article doesn't seem complete especially in regards to the persons of historical interest, especially Antonio Armijo. —Preceding

If you do get a reply allowing this, make sure that they follow the procedures to officially record their allowing Wikipedia to use the exact text on their site.

Can you please link the procedures to officially record their permission? —Preceding

Requested permission. President of the association thought it was okay, but the author has not responded. I'll start making my own stab at this.
History
Please cite reference that trail was closed by Mormons due to the slave trade. The trail association history mentions that the practice was widely condemned. Also, that article seems to indicate the trail ceased usage mostly due to its becoming obsolete. —Preceding

Intend to rewrite this section and make it more consistent with the trail association's description of the reason the trail fell out of use.
Introduction

Removed that language, cannot find any reference the mentions this colonial era policy. Instead discussed the history of the naming of the trail.
