Question

"While the Nassau-plus-Suffolk definition of Long Island does not have any legal existence, it is recognized as a "region" by the state of New York.[5]"

This recognition in and of itself is by definition existence, no? And regardless the DMV does recognize LI (Nassau+Suffolk definition) separately from other regions of the state in terms of license permissions, so that is at least one example of government recognition. Largest settlement

In the infobox, we currently list Hempstead, New York (<1 million people) as the largest settlement on the island. By population Brooklyn (2,736,074 people) and Queens (2,405,464) are each larger. Shouldn't we list Brooklyn in the infobox as the largest settlement on the island? — Mhawk10 ( talk) 23:59, 16 March 2022 (UTC) reply
