I restored the U.S. census demographic data that had been deleted on Jan. 31. The numbers in the data had been "adjusted" on Dec. 28, so I used the Nov. 10 version. Malepheasant 02:35, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
Because the city lies next to LAX, the US' busiest immigration port of entry and its' proximity to South L.A., you find the majority (you see the data in front of you) of Inglewood residents are non-white and/or foreign-born. The city was mostly black (the 'white flight' began after the 1965 Watts riots) from 1970 to 1995 when Hispanics are the largest ethnic group (about to be a majority through immigration). There are whole sections of Inglewood became populated by Mexicans and Central Americans, Asian Americans and some white Americans still live there. But the large African-American population had been what people thought of Inglewood, but I'm told of some African (like Kenya, Nigeria or Ethiopia) and Middle Eastern people moved in there in the 1990s, and I've seen more Latinos than blacks whom nearly replaced the white population long ago. Not everyone in the city is poor or on welfare (the local media shown too much of this) and rising home values is an example of upper-class Blacks, and Whites, foreign-born or native-born, now want to live in Inglewood. There used to be many Europeans, refugees came after WWII in the western parts near what's the I-405 freeway, but had moved on in the 1960s. I've known a family friend, whose parents of Italian descent lived in Centinela Park and most of her neighborhood were Greek, Polish, Hungarian and Lithuanian (this is her opinion or up to her knowledge of neighbors who may told her that). I should come back with most recent census results on local demographics (by race, national origin and socio-economic class). 207.200.116.133 06:45, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
Hello "Is it me or does the percents exceed 100 Percent? How and why would it exceed 100 percent?") - The racial makeup of the city was 51.13% Black or African American, 45.04% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race, 17.10% White, 1.14% Asian, 0.69% Native American, 0.36% Pacific Islander, 27.38% from other races, and 4.20% from two or more races. Am I the only one that noticed Inglewood,CA was mentoined in two music videos: Mike Jones' "My 64" and Common's "The People" INGLEHOOD! 21:47, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
Noticed that Inglewood was credited as the birthplace of Paul Pierce, but that is actually false. Paul was born in Oakland, but moved to Inglewood before high school. He did attend Inglewood High, but was not born there, nor does he consider himself from Inglewood, rather Oakland. I know his brother Jay... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.78.171.28 ( talk) 20:27, 26 October 2007 (UTC)
We have a list of people claiming to be born in Inglewood, but no sources for any of the information. Let's try to clean up that section. Sincerely, GeorgeLouis ( talk) 18:41, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
Please help expand these sections, with proper references. You can use Gladys Waddingham's book (she has much more than what I have added) for the African-American era, and you can use the L.A. Times files for a whole lot, too. Don't just toss in stuff because you "heard it somewhere"; Inglewood is much too good for that. Sincerely, GeorgeLouis ( talk) 18:43, 12 January 2008 (UTC)
The "fact" that Inglewood was a disguised location in Grand Theft Auto needs a source other than fan blogs, fan sites and copies of the old Wikipedia article. Is there anybody in a position of authority who has made that statement? If so, use him or her as a source. Sincerely, GeorgeLouis ( talk) 08:01, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
Sources say she was raised in Inglewood, but they differ whether she was born there or in L.A. The only source for Inglewood is People magazine. Any more? GeorgeLouis ( talk) 03:55, 16 June 2008 (UTC)
This article needs a map that locates Inglewood within LA area. As a matter of fact, ALL artilces about cities and towns need associated maps so the reader knows where the place is. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.191.244.12 ( talk) 12:21, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
It would be nice for the interested editors to separate the deletion of the supposed copy violations (debatable) from the rest of the cleanup (which might be OK). It seems that a link to a Youtube video is not really a WP:Copyvio. Sincerely, GeorgeLouis ( talk) 04:51, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
It's getting long. Shall we move History to its own article? I would also suggest combining it with the schools history, which currently is under Education, Sincerely, GeorgeLouis ( talk) 07:08, 27 April 2009 (UTC)
Well in the main article about L.A. there is just a squib, with a reference to the main article at History_of_Los_Angeles. Anyway, there is now a stub at Gladys Waddingham. Yours, GeorgeLouis ( talk) 21:39, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
Hi. Just wondering where the list of neighborhoods came from. It should have a source. I question some of them. For example, what is the "Grevillea Park neighborhood"? Does it include the city hall and Inglewood High? Some of the neighborhoods are repeated. Also isn't the Centinela Springs "neighborhood" nothing more than Centinela Park? The Centinela Adobe "neighborhood" is part of Westchester, not part of Inglewood. Could somebody kindly produce a source? We don't want to put anything in here we can't prove some way or another. Sincerely, your friend, GeorgeLouis ( talk) 05:01, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
http://www.city-data.com/neighborhood/Centinela-Adobe-Inglewood-CA.html or http://www.city-data.com/neighborhood/Grevillea-Park-Inglewood-CA.html, and you will see what I mean. Yours, GeorgeLouis ( talk) 00:43, 24 July 2009 (UTC)
This section does not describe how the city shifted from having no black residents to being a majority black city - it jumps from one to the other. Was the shift gradual? Was it sudden? Were there any causes? -- ಠ_ಠ node.ue ಠ_ಠ ( talk) 17:14, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
I say it is not. When I grew up there, it was known as part of the Centinela Valley. The L.A. Times's old suburban sections had one section called "Centinela-South Bay," indicating that there were two areas involved. Inglewood has also been classed with South Central Los Angeles. So this statement need to have a credible source. Sincerely, GeorgeLouis ( talk) 01:53, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
I've removed the statement about Inglewood being in the "South Bay." Just saying it is does not make it so. If anybody has a good source (a phone book would be fine), please put it back. Sincerely, GeorgeLouis ( talk) 19:48, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
The cited website does not say Inglewood is in the South Bay, only that the city is a member of the South Bay Cities Council of Governments, and this is what the article now says. Yours as a stickler for the facts, GeorgeLouis ( talk) 02:20, 19 October 2009 (UTC)
Addition to the above: The cited article from the Daily Breeze does claim Inglewood as part of the South Bay, but I think it was done only to provide "local content" to satisfy the editors. The newspaper's logo says the South Bay is from "LAX to L.A. Harbor," and Inglewood does not fall in that area. Anyway, it is a sufficiently credible source to prop up the statement in the lead, that Inglewood is "in" the South Bay. Sincerely, GeorgeLouis ( talk) 02:42, 19 October 2009 (UTC)
GeorgeLuis, thanks for your help. I agree. However, I would think since it is part of the South Bay cities council of governments, that it would be a south bay city, by common sense. Thanks for all your wonderful work on this page, what do you think of the city personally? I hope you see the potential for rebirth as I do.
GeorgeLuis, perhaps this is a better source for Inglewood being in the South Bay is you like:

When adding to the "Notable residents" list, let's make sure they are truly notable and that there is a reference, or source, of their notability. If they are already listed in Wikipedia under their own article, then they are by definition notable and don't need any further sourcing. At least that's the way I see it, and I hope you agree with me. Yours, GeorgeLouis ( talk) 21:39, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
someone should prob put this in: http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-dorn26-2010jan26,0,1236974.story?track=rss —Preceding unsigned comment added by 138.237.78.118 ( talk) 20:01, 28 January 2010 (UTC)
He seems to have gotten more votes than Daniel K. Tabor, but he is not the mayor until he is sworn in. http://www.jamesbuttsformayor.com/ Yours, GeorgeLouis ( talk) 05:42, 21 January 2011 (UTC)
Lawrence Ross, author, was added to the Notable list, but his article does not give any facts about his living in Inglewood. If you can find a good source, just add him back to the list. Yours, GeorgeLouis ( talk) 01:24, 17 April 2011 (UTC)
Not sure how to handle this. The addition was unsourced, but there are some websites that include the words. Does anybody know WP policy on linking to such sites? Isn't there a Wikipedia:Copyright_Problems policy against doing so? In puzzlement, GeorgeLouis ( talk) 20:02, 14 November 2011 (UTC)
Thanks, friend tedder. Good food for thought. Sincerely, GeorgeLouis ( talk) 21:25, 14 November 2011 (UTC)
Have been reading the article and one thing confused me. On what basis is the following section of the table of Ethnic diversity based.
"Ethnic diversity Moderate Moderate Moderate High High"
Someone please explain the system used for this. Is this section even necessary because the numerical statistics are shown as well right above. Alexandre8 ( talk) 23:32, 21 November 2011 (UTC)
If there actually is a Hillcrest-Saint John area, we need a source that says so. Thank you, GeorgeLouis ( talk) 14:54, 8 June 2012 (UTC)
Daniel Freeman is credited as the city's founder in both his bio article and the article about Daniel Freeman Memorial Hospital, yet that fact gets only a very fleeting aside in this article (in the section on Schools history): "The schoolroom, named Bucephalus Hall, after a horse belonging to town founder Daniel Freeman..." Surely there should be a sentence or two in the history section about his role in the city's founding... Perhaps one of the regular editors could take care of this omission? This is what the article said under "Geography":
===Climate=== According under to the [[Köppen Climate Classification]] system (Csb on the coast, Csa on the inland) Inglewood has a [[Mediterranean climate]].<ref>{{cite web|url=http://www.weatherbase.com/weather/weather-summary.php3?s=59227&cityname=Inglewood,+California,+United+States+of+America&units=|title=Inglewood, California Köppen Climate Classification (Weatherbase)|website=Weatherbase|accessdate=August 25, 2017}}</ref>
Now the language errors aside, (which I originally just wanted to fix,) the linked page given as a source clearly says: "Bsk", "Tropical and Subtropical Steppe Climate". That's why I moved the section here.
Now I think it would be very interesting if anyone could find out, whether there was an error in one of those two assessments, or if there was a reclassification over the course of the last three years (what with global climate change and all...).
That would be some great information to have in the article.
