The updated Census information for NYC shows some significant changes following the 2020 Census. For some reason, much of the article continues to cite numbers from the 2000 Census, the 2007 ACS, etc. I don't know how to edit tables, or I would have a whack at it, and don't have the time or facility to edit the entire article—but maybe some editors could agree to take responsibility for updating specific sections? In addition, I would suggest that:

• Non-Hispanic whites and blacks should be included in the race/ethnicity table (or be added to a second table).
• I've also added information about foreign-born Hispanics racial self-identification (33% white, 9% black), but if anyone knows of or finds those numbers for all Hispanics in NYC, that would be great!
• Percentile tables where overlap exists (i.e., racial/ethnic numbers where some Hispanics are simultaneously included as black or white), should include a "does not add up to 100%" label. I don't know if there's a Wikipedia policy, but it seems pretty standard elsewhere and is obviously helpful.

Couldn't agree with you more. This seems to be a near-universal problem with Demographics and Demography articles; see, for example, the discussion at Talk:Demographics of South Africa#Duplication and formatting in #Other demographic statistics. What works for other types of article, such as history and biography, doesn't work for demography, because much of the articles seem to result from successive editors adding their little bit (such as Ruritanian-Americans in Cleveland) without proper regard for the tables and text that have been posted earlier, often many years ago. —— Shakescene ( talk) 22:40, 31 December 2022 (UTC) reply

Is currently a redirect to this article, Demographics of New York City. However, there is also the article New York City ethnic enclaves. It was pointed out that similar articles about ethnic groups in US metro areas are titled Ethnic groups in Baltimore, Ethnic groups in Chicago, Ethnic groups in Metro Detroit, Ethnic groups in Houston, Ethnic groups in Los Angeles, Ethnic groups in Omaha, and Ethnic groups in Syracuse, New York.
