Reagan was not a California native. He was born in Illinois. However, he was a California resident for most of his life, and had served as governor before being elected President. I've read through this article a couple times and couldn't find anything about the closing ceremony. I don't know of any sources, but wasn't there a flying saucer suspended above the stadium while music from 2001 A Space Oddesy played? Hello! Is it possible for you to correct the errors concerning South Korea and Spain flags during the Olympics. South Korea used the 1949 flag variant in the 1984 Summer Olympics and Winter Olympics until they changed the flag in October of that year. Gigi Droesch from NOlympics LA is quoted in this article from them., saying that "residents of the host city, particularly those who are Black, of color, disabled, trans, or otherwise at risk of housing insecurity" are always the most impacted by hosting the Olympics. As one who grew up with the Iranian Revolution events ongoing news, I question the statement Tehran withdrew from selection as a result of Iran's policy changes following the Iranian Revolution and a change in the country's ruling system - the Shah did not flee the country until January 1979 when the regime irrevocably changed and the revolution would have been considered over. The reasons need to be stated less vaguely and more specifically, with citation, as surely the Shah was not seriously anticipating abandoning his throne early in 1978. It is more likely that there may have been concerns about the city being a safe venue when the Olympics were due to be staged, and the ability to get labour to prepare infrastucture when Tehran was rife with unrest.
