PT Metropolitan Televisindo, operating as Rajawali Televisi (RTV, stylized as rtv) is an Indonesian commercial television network in Indonesia, owned by Rajawali Corpora. RTV is categorised as "family television", licensed via the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology. Its frequency is coordinated through the Department of Transportation.

RTV aired for the first time on 1 November 2009 in Jakarta, originally as the B-Channel. The B-Channel later changed its name to RTV with the launch of Langit Rajawali on 3 May 2014.

Broadcasting 24 hours a day, RTV's programs focus on entertainment, soft news, and a variety of animation programs, ranging from anime, tokusatsu and children's animation.

History

The B-Channel was co-founded by Sofia Koswara and Rajawali Corpora in 2008 - at the time being relayed through a local television station in Cikarang, TVN (now part of RTV regional stations). In 2012, Rajawali Corpora bought Sofia Koswara's stake in the B-Channel. On 3 May 2014, the B-Channel changed its name to RTV during the Langit Rajawali show.

In 2016, Mayapada acquired a 20% stake in RTV ownership from Rajawali Corpora. Mayapada later acquired another television network INTV (formerly Banten TV), which in 2019 was relaunched as MYTV.

On 30 March 2017, during a press conference, RTV announced that they would focus more on children's programmes,. [1] In February 2018, RTV opened a smaller studio at KidZania Jakarta. [2]

Broadcast coverage

RTV broadcasts from Greater Jakarta and its surrounding areas, with digital television reaching over 26 UHF frequencies. Since August 2018, RTV is available throughout Indonesia from satellite Telkom-4 (previously from satellite Apstar 6 and Palapa D). Additionally, RTV broadcasts can be watched through subscription television packages, including Nex Parabola, Transvision, IndiHome, First Media, and Accola Play, in addition to RTV's transmitter network.

RTV is among the top TV networks in Indonesia.[ citation needed] It currently has 44 transmission stations in 206 cities in the country. The TV is also available on other platforms, such as pay TV, online streaming, and other digital media.

Previously as the RTV still named B Channel, the RTV officially obtained broadcasting rights for French Ligue 1 football matches for 2 years, namely the 2012-2013 to 2013-2014 season because the 2013-2014 Ligue 1 season was broadcast with the beIN Sports broadcasting rights license. B Channel (currently RTV) will broadcast 204 matches or 6 matches per week which will be broadcast every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday night until midnight. On 9 May 2017, RTV received broadcast rights to broadcast all matches of the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup and 4 matches of the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup (semi final, third place playoff, and final matches only). Then, in 2020, RTV again broadcast live broadcasts of English second caste football matches by obtaining broadcasting rights for the EFL through collaboration with license owners Nex Parabola, Vidio and Champions TV for the next 2 seasons from 2020-21 to 2021-22.
