Jessica S. Tisch (born February 1, 1981) is the current Commissioner of the
New York City Department of Sanitation.[1][2][3] She has also served as Commissioner of the New York City Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications and Deputy Commissioner for Information Technology of the
New York Police Department.
Education and personal life
Tisch was born to
James S. Tisch, Chief Executive Officer of
Loews Co. She earned an undergraduate degree from
Harvard University and completed an M.B.A and J.D. there in 2008.[4]
In 2006, she married
Daniel Zachary Levine in a ceremony that was officiated by her maternal grandfather, Rabbi Philip Hiat, at the
Central Synagogue in Manhattan.[5] Tisch has two sons.[6]
Career
New York Police Department
In 2008, Tisch began her career with the
NYPD and went on to hold several civilian positions within the agency.[7] In February 2014, she was appointed Deputy Commissioner, Information Technology for the NYPD.[8]
