Jackson Township was founded in 1831. It was named for President Andrew Jackson. [3]
According to the 2010 census, the township has a total area of 42.57 square miles (110.3 km2), of which 35.75 square miles (92.6 km2) (or 83.98%) is land and 6.82 square miles (17.7 km2) (or 16.02%) is water. [4]
The township contains these three cemeteries: Patoka Memorial, Cane Creek, Patoka Memorial and Swift.
