ARMED FORCES MEDICAL LIBRARY- WASHINGTON, D. t ^ The WarDemonstration Hospital OF THE ROCKEFELLER INSTITUTEFOR MEDICAL RESEARCH The object of this pamphlet is to give a few essential facts about the plan and con-struction of a temporary hospital which has been buill upon the model of a recent basehospital actually in use on the Western Front. When the Rockefeller Institute decided to establish a small hospital service for thetreatment of infected wounds by the methods worked out by Dr. Alexis Carrel andDr. H. D. Dakin, and to demonstrate to American surgeons who may be enrolledfor service abroad the technique of this method, it was thought worth while at the samelime to set up a demonstration service in pavilions which would imitate war conditions,and lest the feasibility of a un it portable military hospital designed by Mr. CharlesButler of New York, ivho has made a thorough study, under the French War Depart-ment, of the military hospital units developed in France and England.
