English: First official seal of New Amsterdam, later New York City, granted by the Dutch West India Company, 1654. At top is the insignia of the Dutch West India Company. The scroll at bottom reads "Sigillum Amstelo-Damensis In Novo Belgio," which is Latin for "Seal of Amsterdam in New Netherland."
