DescriptionPresidio Nuestra Senora de Loreto de la Bahia, commonly known as Presidio La Bahia, Goliad, Texas.jpg
English: Built by the Spanish in the early 1700's. This fort was held by Colonel James Fannin and his men during Texas's fight for independence from Mexico. After the Alamo fell, Colonel Fannin was ordered by General Sam Houston to retreat. The colonel did so, but at a leisurely pace. They encountered the Mexican Army at Coleto Creek, where a battle took place. Colonel Fannin eventually surrendered and he and his men were marched back to Presidio La Bahia and imprisoned there. General Santa Ana ordered the Texans to be executed, which they were. Their remains are buried behind the presidio.
