The English Language School (ELS), formerly known as English Medium School, was established in April 1978 [1] in order to carter the growing educational needs of the societies in UAE specially the Muslim and the Asian society.

English Language School is home to 1700 students from preschool to grade 13. The students are from Egypt, Philippines, Iran, Italy, Sudan, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, India, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, UAE and many other countries.

ELS is organized into elementary (preschool to grade 5) and secondary (grades 6 to 8 in middle school and grades 9 to 12 in high school). The school offers "Edexcel GCE" and "Edexcel International Alevels (IAL)" courses at A levels and "Edexcel IGCSE" at O levels.

The school has students and teachers both contributing to control the school. Members of the student council are selected through a voting process, where each student submits a vote for their preferred candidate. The roles of President, Vice President, Head Boy, Head Girl, Deputy Head Boy (Year 10), Deputy Head Boy (Year 11), Deputy Head Girl (Year 10), Deputy Head Girl (Year 11), Sports Captain, Vice Sports Captain and Head Prefect are decided by democracy. However fair the school claims the voting is, there is always a little bit of rigging to suit the needs of the HODs. The team captains (Year 11) and Vice Team captains (Year 10) are chosen through a trial to determine the most fit and Athletic amongst them. The Prefects are selected by their respective HOS's.[ citation needed]

The Student Council of Year 2023-2024 are as follows:
